“What is an Angel but a Ghost in Drag.”
Stan Rice
Angels are usually depicted as healers, rescuers and guardians; but what if they are just our ghostly doubles or an apparition of ourselves?
When we reach out to them, who or what are we really calling out to? Do they really care?
We all face various pressures in our lives, being pushed, pulled, ripped, torn, battered and scarred but we’ve lost our ability and the willingness to heal ourselves.
Instead, we search for something else or place masks over our faces to protect ourselves so we can breathe without being exposed. In doing so, we suffocate ourselves with fear, polluting our beliefs with those of others and fail to address our issues.
My work reflects upon these questions and the emotions, reactions and repressions of my inner worlds, drawing inspiration from legends, religion and society .
