Born in Devonport Tasmania Chelsea Cameron completed her secondary education in Tasmania, developing a keen interest in drawing and graphic arts. After graduating Chelsea moved to Melbourne to study graphic arts at the Box Hill Institute of TAFE, where she received a certificate IV in Appplied Design and a Diploma in Graphic Art in 2005. In the following year she began work as a Graphic Artist for a Melbourne based printing company, where she worked for two years. Struggling with the artistic limitations of office life, Chelsea made the decision to pursue an alternative career.

In early 2009 Chelsea returned to study, enrolling in the Bachelor of Fine Arts course at RMIT, majoring in painting. After completing just one year she felt compelled to leave university life in order to start putting into practise the skills she had learnt and to develop her own studio practise. Chelsea currently works from her home studio in Melbourne where she uses a variety of mediums including lead pencil, watercolour, oil and acrylic paint.

"I strive to create fresh, modern work which stems from my own life journey. My artistic process always starts with a concept. I spend time thinking and researching in order to flesh out the idea, gathering visual material along the way. I try to use the most suitable materials for each idea; whether that be a small pencil drawing on paper, a large oil painting on canvas or a mixture of a few mediums. Visiting galleries and keeping up to date with the wider artistic community is an integral part of my practise. Being aware of what is going on in the local and international art scene informs and sharpens my own work."
