Already an accomplished musician, I have worked professionally as a composer/recording artist for the last 7 years, having so far commercially released 2 full albums with my band Illicit Eve, and 1 EP with my solo acoustic indie/folk project Emily Smart & The Clever Girls. I have toured extensively around Australia with both my bands, and have my first international stint scheduled for 2008, when Illicit Eve embarks on a UK tour.
Although my strongest passion is music, Acting comes in at an extremely close second. I have completed 4 years of acting training at Flinders University Drama Centre and graduated at the end of 2007 with a BCA Honours degree in Drama.
I recently combined my acting and composing skills to create Patch Theatre Company’s Hickory Dickory Dock, which debuted in the 2007 Come Out Festival, and will be touring nationally in 2008. At Flinders, my roles included playing ‘Barbara’ in Michael Gow’s Europe, ‘Tyler’ in Some Girls by Neil Labute, and the ravaged rockstar ‘Cynthia Paige’ in The Jungle by Louis Nowra, where I wrote and sung my theme song. I have also featured in several short films, and starred in The Music Room (an ABC pilot).
